Thanks dhope. I got this (23ac) when I realised I'd filled in the wrong letters for 18d by mistake. I confess I didn't know the word for eyelashes, but google put me right.

I've just read through the thread including my last entry. I should have said that I would really like to know the parsing for 3d and 5d. I'm not really familiar with 5d, though I think I've seen it before.

Hi quocunque
7d: If you reverse (or raise) the second word you get an abbreviation for a UK association of students.

Hi quocunque
7d is a sort of "self-referential" clue - the first part describes what to do with the second part

Ok, there's just one thing I don't understand, so any help would be welcome. There's an obvious solution to 20a, which can mean an author's works, and can also be part of a chapter. However, I don't get "is not by her". 🤔
