Good fun I thought, thanks to Imogen!
I parsed 22d as ilippu though I didn’t find it wholly convincing. I also agree with Bren that 18d would benefit from something a little more exact than “a new leader”.

Everyman and Gemelo are available in pdf form. I thought Everyman was good. Gemelo looks interesting but I’ve yet to fully decifer the preamble…

Only just started, but I nearly threw it away when I read 11a. He means "fertile", not "pregnant"!

Yes, after that it went quickly. My favourite was 9a.

I’m with jono on 18. It was my LOI, and I reverse-parsed it (as it were) as ilippu, but I’m not wholly convinced by it. I’m sure I’ve seen the device used more convincingly in the past.

My problem with 18d is that there is no evidence that there are any!

I see ilippu was actually referring to 22, not 18. I parsed it the same way, I think it works, but I have seen the idea expressed more explicitly.

I agree that there were some witty clues but I need the Saturday Prize to last (at least) the half hour I spend on the exercise bike. This was more like a Monday puzzle? Not to take away from the cleverness of the setter.

Yes, sorry: in responding to jono’s comment I used his 22 when I meant 18.
