11 ?????

32 It's one of the 6 special clues but it seems as if the alteration is the opposite of the alteration in the other 5...bothersome

35 take=REC; put that inside a word for a stack of phonograph records

11: I think first word of clue is both definition and part of wordplay

32: I had the same problem until I realised there’s a little more to the variation than I first thought. The last word of the hint explains.

The two I’m struggling to parse are 12 and 14, although I think I must have them right.

Really enjoyed this one. The theme brought a smile to my face when I watched the original on YouTube.

barneya - I too haven't parsed 14 yet but in 12 the def is an adjective from the 1st 2 words of the clue; the wordplay requires the insertion of a letter ??????? in the middle of the 4th word.

Note by Admin - post amended as it gave away too much

Actually I was wrong there. It's the last word of 12 which is the def and the first 4 - with the addition of that letter ????? - which is the homophonous wordplay.

Finally got a full grid with the necessary highlighting, but struggling to understand 14a,32a,34a and 8d - but I know which type of clues they are.

Slightly unhappy with my understanding of 32 and 34. I think 14a parses as 2+1+3, with the extra letter being at the end of the 3 letters at the end of the parsing.

gitto - 32: there's an extra letter in "waive"; 1st letter of "guidelines" in 3-letter word for "error".
34: "Switching pole" - n for s - in "alas", to which is added a letter ?????? The whole thing is "botched" ( ie anag) to give a word for "verandah" which was new to me when I found it in Bradford's.

With regard to 32, remember that adding (in the context of the variation to the theme) isn’t always the same thing as inserting - sometimes it requires the opposite - although for the other five similar clues it happens to produce the same result. For 34, apply the treatment to the third word, then subject it to the reasonably well-signposted two-stage wordplay.

14a: I think the wordplay is a tw0-word expression: xx'x xxxx but I don't particularly care for that explanation

8d: AL in a reversed adjective describing a part of a church where the dean sits (but I don't see how the clue indicates an adjectival form)
