mattrom - like you, I haven't quite finished the themed entries but what I have found is that, while I've got 3 entries consisting of 2 words within a single entry, there seems to be only one 2-word unclued where the words have separate entries. And I haven't found a hyphen yet.

Mattrom ... i think we look for 6 of each category...A to F . In amongst these there will be a hyphenated word and a 2 word answer?

I think that the square immediately to the left of 16 should be yellow. Assuming that (a) my entries to the two unclued lights which intersect with 20a are correct and (b) that the first word of the clue to 20a is the definition, I have an answer which fits and which makes sense, but I am baffled by the wordplay. Can anyone give me a nudge?

@will73: by my reckoning, the hyphened unclued theme word is the theme word starting with E in the themed category B.

Maybe it would parse if "east" was replaced by "this"...

20 A would work perfectly if the clue finished 'Paris, France'....

helveticus -- yes, the E word in category B can be hyphened (or not). However, I wonder whether Doc has split up the 2 syllables of the B word in category F and made them into separate entries, notionally hyphening them.

@malone: I agree. It looks like yet another error which the crossword editor should have caught and fixed. Unfortunately, the crossword editior of The Spectator is Doc (as far as I know).

Thanks, Helveticus. Yes, Doc's still the editor though there seems very little editing going on most weeks. Errors have become very commonplace now, a real pity.

I think the two words/hyphened "help" refers only to the two unclued answers which each occupy two lights -- there are other two word/hyphened unclued answers within single lights.
I thought I was doing well, but I have a full grid except for one light which I thought would be the F of group G, but I can't find a word to fit.
