Thanks Brendon, sorry, I missed your post 32 which did indeed give me the answer.

The penny dropped when I got 14.
A classic of it's genre, surely...

Brendan, I felt compelled to check the cricket results this morning (US East Coast).

Not my favourite compiler and certainly not my favourite theme but at least so far I have been spared the usual schoolboy humour. Only four to complete in north east corner so any nudges /hints for 4,5,6 and 12 would be appreciated. After the stress and disappointment of the goings on in Perth needed a more interesting and entertaining Saturday prize.
FOI 10a
COD 25a
LOI either 4,5,6 or 12
Stay warm.

12: defn "Making your mind up", parses as 4 ("half-cut train"), 4. Thematic.

6: parses as 4 ("underwear's") followed by 1 ("black") inside 4 ("smooth"). Maybe thematic?

I'm pleased with this, first time in ages that I've not needed hints from the forum. It's good for the self-esteem! Some very easy clues but then some gnarly ones which slowed me down. I enjoyed 12a, 1a took forever to click. Thank you to Paul.

When I got four on the first run through, I though it was going to be easy, but not so.
I still have four in sw corner to get. 16ac (though I think I know it), 21ac, 16d and 20d.
Several I can't parse and not interested in the theme - or cricket!

Off to watch telly for a bit now but will be back.

I found most of this quite easy, but then came to a total halt with six clues to do, and eventually, reluctantly, resorted to this forum, and picked up a hint. After that everything fell easily into place. Well, at least all the answers fell into place, but "muscly pack" certainly didn't. I might perhaps have finished without help if I'd heard of either part of 15/16 (either the film or the 9). As for having nothing against "puerile smut", personally I do have something against it, not because it's smut, but because it's puerile. I find it rather irritating to be implicitly invited to giggle over something which one could reasonably be expected to have grown out of well before the end of one's teens. Having said that, it is my only complaint about Paul; it is a small defect to set against his much larger strengths as a setter, and I always enjoy his puzzles.
