Not too challenging if you can find where to look in Chambers. However, as usual could have done with some independent editorial oversight. I believe 36A should have "such people" rather than "such a person".

I agree that the parse in 36 a implies a singular answer. But errors of this kind are now typical of Doc.

I don't have the 13th edition of Chambers, only the 12th. I have tried looking up a couple of the more obvious phrases there but to no avail. Could some kind person please confirm or otherwise that the relevant page/information is in the edition I have?

AP, I don't have the 12th edition, but the entries in the 13th are all in that special section at the back - does the 12th have one of those? (I'd originally been looking in the main/normal part of the dictionary and that was fruitless).

Thanks for that Malone. Yes it does and one which stood out is there. I'll go back to it later.

Any clues as to where exactly to look in Chambers? I have the 13th Ed. but nothing is jumping out at me. Thanks.,

The title of the puzzle cuts down the search somewhat.

Lacking a hard copy of Chambers, I went to the Internet Archive, which has a searchable copy of the 12th edition (all the unclueds are in there). I used "(XXX)" as a search term where XXX are the first 3 letters of the relevant language; everything was sorted in pretty short order.
