I’m steaming! Bought a copy of Chambers on-line from Amazon I guess, and got 4th Edition (2015!). My understanding is that, amazingly, these days most books bought online are printed to order and if so no excuse! Rant over…..

It sounds like you may have the Chambers Crossword Dictionary, rather than the Chambers Dictionary (?)

As someone who can't bring himself to get rid of a dictionary that has served me well, I can confirm that the relevant bit of the Chambers dictionary where the unclueds can be found is not just in the 13th edition (2014), but also in the 11th edition (2008) and the 7th edition (1988)!

Just starting 2730 now. (Too busy watching cricket!) Thank you Buzzy for the clarification on 36A. Would never have figured it otherwise.

Incidentally neither Chambers nor Collins have any plans to update their current editions, now about 10 years old!
It seems printed dictionaries are now obsolescent!
