Last clue for me to solve, 5 down:

Peel’s people (4)

I have *K*N

It has to be SKIN, which fits with peel, but not with people as far as I can tell.

Please don’t tell me he’s using the “S” + KIN (people)… is he?

If so, it’s the worst crossword clue I’ve ever seen!

Or am I missing something? Is “skin” slang for people?

Yes, it's just Skin, peel. The " 's " ( ie = 'is') is fairly common in crosswords, and Kin, people is totally fine. It's not a great clue - I feel it's too simplistic, too simple - but I don't think it's one of the 'worst'!

I think it’s a terrible clue.

Yes, obviously, ‘s can mean “is”. And obviously, kin is fine for people.

But it is very poor form for the “s” to be doing “double duty” - it is already performing the role of being “is”, so it shouldn’t also be doing something else, especially with no appropriate hint.

At best, it’s horrendously clumsy. No elegance to the clue at all.

There is no double duty.
Peel = SKIN and the wordplay is S + KIN.
