Certainly a touch of deja vu with todays listener. Finding the 5 locations proved to be a little tricky, but the map on the relevant wiki page was a tremendous help.

Finding it hard to get into top part of grid after fairly quick solve of lower section. Would be grateful for a steer on 1a -
Records leave out MDMA tabs, sulphates (9) but I suspect maybe it has more than 9 letters?

No, those letters are correct if you read the wiki article on the names of the thematic 4ac items.
