I’ve been looking for a 6 letter entry “gle.ay” with the last 2 letters clashing. I think I’ve got something very wrong.
A hint would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to Phi for what was certainly the most taxing of the weekend trio. I think “broadly” in the preamble is doing as much work as “roughly” in that of the Listener; but that is not a complaint given the constraints of the grids in each case. A lot of information in the extra letters. The first, second and fourth seem reasonable choices by those involved at the time but the third one seems very odd.

Need help with the clash I assume is in 20d. All done otherwise.
I have a four letter place that may work.
The other clashes all work with the across extra letters followed by down extra letters...
Is this one different?

My copy is in the recycling bin outside awaiting collection early doors tomorrow; but one of the clashes was certainly a 4 letter mix starting with Y. Does that help?

Lumen, That short one had the two letters from the Down clue followed by the two from the Across .
