Certainly much easier with the letter counts!
I started last night when no counts showed, and gave up with grid about half filled.
Finished quickly to day given the counts.

Still rather tough by historical Everyman standards.

I'm stuck on 23A and 25A which nobody else has mentioned!

HeleninGlos, giving the clues - letter count and so on - would be very useful to those who don't have a copy!

I have done it, so I know the clues.
23 I guessed EDEN for the last word - it wasn't right, but I wasn't far off!
25 is a poor clue - at least the definition is very loose. It parses 5,5, with the first 5 a slang word for money.

And the second 5 is a word for corporate committee - members of the *****.
