I now get the first 2 words about what you wear, but the next part totally eludes me. What kind of team?

Think of a musical group - I know it sounds a bit odd but it is in Chambers Thesaurus.

Doesn't 7dn require an anagrind?
And in 26 ac, in what sense does the answer equate to the 2nd definition?

7d - I thought the same thing - maybe the ? is considered sufficient but... I don't know.

26a - Double definition - the answer is an old fashioned expression for a "fuss" (though it's not in Chambers) and I have heard the term 'it was real 26a in old B/W films

Ah! Correction - it is in Chambers as a 2nd definition with a link to "do" which then defines as "fuss".

I think vain sort of works as an anagrind, in the sense of "ostentatious, swaggering" as given in BRB Thesaurus. Perhaps the "sort of" means the "?" is needed to give the setter some leeway.

Or, "?"or "!" is typically used to signal an &lit, which this clue certainly is.

Really enjoyed this one. Fastest ever finish for me. Not quite sure about parsing of 17 though.
