Hi Jack,

31d - Your P is wrong. It's a subtractive anagram.

Sorry Jack, it's a reverse hidden (I'm still giddy after learning of my win)

Thanks, Bren (and congratulations). I had the wordplay of 36 backwards and an answer that is a heraldic term for “parted”. Weirdly, it works just as well as the correct reading and delivers the same extra letter.

Yes, must have been typing simultaneously. Another excellent puzzle this week, though I did struggle to get my ageing brain in gear with the thematics

Brendan, I'm out and about so it's not as easy for me to catch up on the various threads - but I'm very nosy and want to know more about your win!
PS I really liked your anecdote about the 30+ man discovering the all-round joys of books.

Hi Malone,

I'm happy you enjoyed my story of the guy in Montreal with a newly discovered love of hard copy books. It was your reference to the hard back copy of Chambers that me think you'd enjoy it.

I won Gemelo 3 and I'll be receiving a £25 book token. I was very pleased that the notifying email was composed by a lovely lady rather than being done by computer.

Thanks, Brendan. I'm delighted about your win, especially for such a new puzzle - it's not as if you've had years of knowing how the setter's mind works, how to handle his clues and so on. That was lovely too about the notifying email coming from a real live human being.
