Hi PaulB, yes I saw the blog, but that’s not the same as the official solution from the Observer.

Good to see people enjoyed this as much as I did. The level of difficulty optimised the satisfaction in its completion.
Too many clever clues to mention. LOI: 6a . Really nice. Thank you Everyman

I’m on the second viewing. All done apart from the SW corner. A hint for 13d I think would enable me to unlock it. Help would be appreciated. Thank you

It’s an anagram. Nothing special - no need to _________ the wheel to solve it!

Stargull - thank you. I can’t believe I stared at that for so long and didn’t see it. All done now

I usually lurk here, but this time I need help with parsing, both 12a and 14d.
According to my actual printed paper, the troublesome answer from last week was SHEAR

Hi Melini,

12a - 4 letter "error" + 2 letter "paper" then "ultimately with the glib" is 1,1,1 and finally 3 letter "grease" - definition is "to lose steam"

14d - 6,4 "inertia" then switch one letter by changing "extremes in inertia" - definition is "proud position"
