Hi Jono - I don't want to appear dimmer than usual but does the constraint mean that all 'e's are to be blank cells ?

Nope. It says that there are no E's in clues. Says nothing about solutions.

And it’s billed as “Plain”. I took the ”constraint” and the resultng grid as a rather elegant jeu d’esprit by the setter.

I started this thread, so perhaps a comment is appropriate. The Gemelo puzzle was new 2 weeks ago, and it replaced the well-known Observer Azed. Not everyone on this forum would have been aware of that. Now that it has bedded down, perhaps we can drop the Observer designation.

I realise that having no 'E's in the clues is a chsllenge for a setter.

I'm not sure what this does for the solver. Have I missed something obvious?

I have a full grid, but can't parse 1.d. Mivration put local sow back in 52.4cm stye without boundary (12)

I do realise, of course, that there are lots od 'E's in the solutions

1d - SET (put) + ELT (dialect word/'local' word for "sow") reversed all in REMEN (52.4cm) + (s)T(y)

The parsing given in the puzzle is not quite right - I think 🤔
