Jubilesta,
Colin Thomas (aka Twin) has taken over the Azed puzzle and sets as Gemelo (Spanish for Twin).

That’s different to Everyman which is still set by Alan Connor.

Finding this more tricky than usual today.
Totally stuck on 22a.
I have L-A-A-O- - - U

And 18d.
I have - - I - / - - N

Guidance please. I must have some crossers wrong.
Thanks

Hi ruby
L is wrong in 22. All the other crossers in both are right.

I suspect that you have a slightly wrong part of the anatomy in 2d!

Jono

Soz, my misunderstanding. But it would have helped to explain why I've stopped finding Everymans as easy as I used to ...

Some nice clues - 2 & 15. Some not so nice. Held up for ages by getting the wrong nobleman in 7 (despite it being one of my favourite words!).

I tried the puzzle late last night. Perhaps I was tired, but had to set the final few clues aside and finish this morning. Some blunders were due to tiredness, but it still seems on the tough side for Everyman.

Funniest thing: used the chestnut SUP for drink in 1 and thought the definition was off. 🤣 Also couldn't decide which first letter to use in 23 (had to be fatigue 😬) and struggled with the Spoonerism (which is somewhat forced IMO).

I nearly got into the same trap. Im sure you have the first three words right, Ruby, and the first four letters of the last one, but just think an inch higher for the last five! Can anyone help me parse the last two letters of 20a, please? I found this a real headscratcher too, and struggled with Spooner before just accepting the only possible answer.

Thanks for the antonym tip, jono, I hadn't spotted it but I find it very satisfying. Clever stuff from Everyman.

Hi Bob,

20a - last 2 letters are from "mafiosI" and "uptowN" 'in the end'
