Mack, it's a 2D representation of a 3D scene!

Of course. But there's no contact. As I said, it's a quibble.

If you take the symbol to the corner of its cell, and draw the line through the length (?) of the symbol, you should kill him...

Apparently the thematic entity came down the chimney, so the orientation of the diagram is perfectly correct.

It’s probably possible to over-analyse this…

Hello folks.

Struggling to find the two extra lines through seven cells. The only possibility I can see seems rather tasteless and involves an entire down entry. If this is wrong a very gentle nudge would be appreciated!

Look at the wiki entry for the individual concerned. The precise location where he met his end gives the requisite number of letters.

Finished but not happy. The first instruction "In seven clues.....". I have two entries which match the requirement - they are crossing, but that's it. I was expecting a further five entries with hte name of the symbol included.
There is a little confusion in my mind with the symbol and the name of the symbol. 42 and 43 seem to be straightforward but 42 doesn't quite parse and I can't work out "nice trap". Also first word of 11a would appear to be a word to be removed but I don't think it is - it doesn't matter, just trying to clear up the loose ends

Trap means mouth - and a nice one might be this.
