Yes, looked a bit daunting at first but minimal maths knowledge required.
The message from the extra words alludes to the clue numbers in which they occur but you don't need to know any number theory or sequences to solve...just Mr Google.

Ok, I’ll plod on since my grid is filling but my heart sinks when I see something like the unclued light. I know what prime means, after that…….

Help please. I have a full grid and a headache and I also hate maths. Wikipedia is being no help. I also appear to have somehow misidentified half the extra words - here's what I've got. I see "number" in there but the rest is gibberish so I've clearly gone wrong somewhere. Can I be steered in where I've messed up pls pls pls?

The extra word in 16a us Iowa giving you IA instead of VY. There is no extra word in 42 across. 1 down extra word is 'after' giving you AR.

Try googling "number sequence 1, 16, 37, 46 " ...and see what comes up.
