I see no one has posted about this, so maybe someone can help me complete the grid. I only have a rough idea of the starting letter as all clues are alphabetical. This clue wil begin with S or T:
Bread from Samoa’s stale- mouldy crust taken off with middle of blade (5) (one word is redundant) I guess it is money but cannot parse.
Also please: discover osmium in South America (4)
Same rules apply

The preamble states "Ignoring empty cells" - this is relevant to both those clues.

Samoan currency is TALA - middle of stale + middle of blade - but it says 5 letters - haven't started yet - mouldy would be redundant - don't know if this helps.

Finally finished this. A mighty fine and (for me at least) very difficult solve with many devilish clues. Hats off to Kruger for an real challenge.
