Thanks krauton .. I had that “Game horse” solution but needed your hint to understand why. And how to get rid of that pesky O !
Not seeing much in the endgame after following instruction. Seemed rather simple. Is there something about the title or new words that I’m missing?

Help me out here please. After a lot of staring I have a full grid, with two empty spaces and three leftover letters (I, N, Q) - one or two of those is likely removed from a clue but for the life of me I can't parse -

Make Good Capital From Andrew Drummond's opinion
or
Main curved inside barn

So it may be from one of those two??

Either way I can't really see what I'm doing with the leftover letters - they can be fitted into the grid but its not really giving a satisfactory identification of the crossword. So either I've missed something or I'm going mad. pls help

Drummond extra
Inside, N extra

Surely the 2 remaining letters identify the puzzle?

I seeeeeee. Oh ok. I was imagining that the completed words would form something impressive. Thanks!

Mine too, biggus! Got there with back-solving on a positively industrial scale. Quite a challenge which rather over-shadowed the brief endgame - but maybe I should be grateful that the conclusion wasn’t as tough as the journey to get there!

Nearly there!
Help would be appreciated with 'So far, nothing encloses trees' (6).
I had arbors, but that's not right!

Thanks malone.
I'm having a break now but may need more help with the NE corner later! Rest is complete.
I think that's where the empty cells are, but no idea why or how many!

I've completed the grid and done the 1st part of the hidden instruction but I still don't see how that action identifies anything. Are the unremoved letters enough to identify the puzzle on their own regardless of moving them? Finding this end game quite unsatisfactory if so... Please tell me if I'm missing something.
