Thank you. Makes sense and seems more acceptable than I had thought. Not hugely pleasing though!

I’ve finished the puzzle, but can’t parse the first word in 7d, and the second word seems too straightforward.
Help please?

Hi Ruby - 7D is an ingenious anagram. Lop the first letter off three words in the clue, then use the rest.

Hi Helen,
6a parses 3,1 where the 3 sounds like a word for being idle and the 1 refers to Everyman in the first person. I associate it with poor audio quality.

19d 4 letters for model (as a verb) containing (on the inside) half a word from the clue and a single letter from a word in the clue.

Hi Helen,

6a - first 3 letters are a homophone of a 4 letter synonym of "idle" then single letter "Everyman"

19d - 4 letter "model" (as a verb) goes around half of "ugly" and also 1 letter " a little nasty" - definition is "ones stuck up"

Way more difficult than usual...not to mention that rhythm of life is broken with hours of delay in posting the puzzle, esp for my time zone.
