The clues...
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer, and details of any you already have. Any special instructions or additional information, common in Listener puzzles, should also be included.
HINTS only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help towards the theme may also be sought here. The help given should be just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction. Aim to give enough to assist a struggling solver, not enough that it would spoil the puzzle for others.

There are many regulars on the Listener threads, but newcomers are always welcome.

Any unsolicited help, with clues or with the theme, will be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

Nice idea, but once you discover the work the entire grid can be filled in under a minute. I guess I should not have looked for the work, since now I have no excuse for not cutting the grass.

@buddy I'm glad to hear this - not that I am any the wiser.

Still in the depths of despair.

Just got the work's title and it's creators' surnames so, though I'm packing up for the evening now, I'm sure I'll complete tomorrow. I wonder whether the timing of this puzzle is related to 3 manifestations in UK auditoria of a related performance.

Very clever, but it did fall into place quickly once I had stumbled across the title.

Huge kudos to Cagey for making this work in the way that it does.

I've done most of the across clues, but I'm not sure how the definitions "have been affected.." - they seem perfectly normal to me?

In down clues, does every answer have to be jumbled? In 17dn, it seems that both parts give the same entry?

Thanks

Dylan--I've made woefully little progress in general, but I think I've solved 17dn, and I think you may be mis-parsing the wordplay side of the clue. Consider a different wordplay implication of "partiality."

Dylan, the across clues are very clever. Now that you have "done" most of them, read the preamble again!

9d - Confront Algerian ruler snuggling France (4)

I have the what I'm pretty sure is the unjumbled answer but, the problem is, I got it from the wordplay, which should have given me it jumbled?
