The two meanings in 19a are have on (as in play a joke on) and end (as in close down)

In 11, the pony is two words 3,3

6a is a four letter word for well as a noun reversed inside two single letters

Thanks jono. In 19 I had the wrong pair of words - I had the "on" with "end" rather than "have"!

I did the same, Chris. Actually, I think it’s a clever clue.

Thanks for the info on Kite's retracted puzzle. But disappointed that it'll run in a Prize slot (17 May). I solved it last week so will have a weekend sans Prize entertainment.

geeker, I solved it two weeks ago as well, before the Maskarade appears. However my memory is so poor that I will be able to solve it again as if for the first time. It didn’t take long, as I recall.

Well, I already forgot that Kite appeared 2 weeks ago instead of 1, so it may well seem fresh on the 17th. 🤣

Having seen the Maskarade puzzle explained on fifteensquared, I'm even more pleased that I took one look at Special Instructions and threw it away! I did finish the Kite one, though.

chris, I passed on the Maskarade and didn't regret it sufficiently to follow up on 225. His holiday jumbos are ingenious, but require more time and effort than I prefer to spend on weekend puzzles.
