1d and 19d are the same 2 clues that were in last week's Everyman, which means the latter ends with an N - problem is, though, that the answer to the crossing 27a, at least my answer, begins with an E!

16d ... There is some discussion in 225 (fifteen squared) re 16d in 4096.... It continues, apparently, from Guardian to Tortoise.

1d could mean both good bye (4096) and hello (4097?)

That said, the conceit here (esp. 16d) is absolute genius.
