The clues...
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer, and details of any you already have. Any additional information or special instructions, common in Listener puzzles, should also be included.
HINTS only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help with the theme may also be sought and given here. The help should be just enough (a nudge, a pointer in the right direction) to help a struggling solver without spoiling the puzzle for others. Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much of the theme are likely to be removed.

There are many regulars on the Listener threads, but newcomers are always welcome.

Unsolicited help, whether with clues or the theme, will usually be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

Major change to the look of the Times app. Took me a while to locate the crossword club and the Listener, but it’s there.

Quite a fiddly endgame this, with removed words performing different roles, but it all works out in the end

Quite a complicated endgame, and a theme that I now remember coming across a long time ago! Thanks to Smudge.

I have a filled grid and not the faintest idea about how to get from the answers to the (few) fancy clues I've solved to the (all inserted) grid entries. Perhaps tomorrow will bring enlightenment. I don't intend to read the works involved - do I need to?

Cookie - no need at all to read the whole works.

Good puzzle. A big PDM got me over the line, with huge admiration for the cleverness of the derivation of the thematic entries.

Completely baffled! I have entries for all but 2 cells, but..... I cannot find synonyms for words in 3d and 21a, 26d (second part), can't solve 28a (either part) and can't parse 11a (3 letter extra word?), 15a, 8d (same as 11a) and 12d. Also only got 3 of the reviewed answers, nor the thematic source or its author. Other than that, I'm doing Ok?! I need a clamorous PDM!!

Gitto, Google the three reviewable solutions together. That's exactly what I did before setting it aside last evening. The PDM came with an almighty clang!! Just finished off in a pleasant couple of hours.

As has been noted earlier, the extra words don't necessarily help with the end-game
