Cheers. Hadn't thought of it as an adjective and not thought of answer meaning approptiate but it is in Chambers so all falls into place.

Lol Seemly and unseemly do have a certain something.

I was almost done in by 3D — what could possibly begin and end with those letters? Giving in, I even searched a word database that provided only two words, neither of which was even close.

Finally out of the blue the answer hit me. What a tough clue! I doubt I've ever seen or heard that word before, but it had to be right.
