Hi Rainman
That is what I meant re 16d, but perhaps didn’t express it too well. I agree with brendan that it’s not a word I’ve ever seen, and I think Paul is taking a bit of a liberty here!

I'm OK with 16d, in fact.
Struggling with the long one, though. I don't understand what you mean by "anagram fodder", rogissimo - there isn't a U in the clue, whereas there is in 24a?
Also stuck on 9a, 25a, 20d, and 23d (no letters at all in the last one!)

Re 16d Chambers describes the last two letters as an adjectival suffix denoting “belonging or relating to”. So “in style of” is ok, I think.

Chris, the answer to the long one contains the fodder and an indicator

Thanks jono - still don't see it, though.
I've got 20d now - one of my favourites, along with 3,13,21, and 18a.

25 gold not one of not the usual abbreviations and if you were at the Moulin Rouge you’d be in…
23 think cricket for the second bit

Yes struggling with this. I assume it will be a typical Paul. Hard to get into but once you get the long solutions it will fall into place.

For 4d I have an answer meaning first two words of the clue but I can't parse it for love nor money. Is it right?

Rocky, yes you have it. Three starting letters, ‘behind’ as a noun (typical Paul!), usual letter for hospital
