yes, it's themed, neville - and the wordplay is 2-2 (= last two words). In5 definition is last word.

Thanks Prospero. I also recall coming across this word sometime past. The symmetry attracts word lovers like moths to an LED. Enjoyed this despite initially worrying about non themed words having to be reversed in some kind of jigsaw challenge.

I enjoyed this one and worked out the theme fairly quickly. I thought it was easier than usual.

I was slow to get underway, because of being misled by the instruction; not writing in solutions I had found in case I got them the wrong way, trying multiple combinations of crossing letters to allow for different crossing words going different ways, etc... Eventually I realised what the pont was, and if course it suddenly got much easier. Even so, there are still a few in the NE corner that I haven't solved, and two that I'm confident I have solved, but I don't fully understand. 1d: definition clear, but how the second part of the word comes from the wordplay is beyond me. Bin?? Any hints? 22a: Where does the 2nd half of the solution come from? "Not for everyone"? 11a: Is it a football team? If so, my lack of interest in the game is perhaps a severe handicap, and I can't find one that fits. Alternatively is it something to do with stars? Either way, a hint would be welcome.

22(a): second half of the soln. is "trips" (5 letters) minus a single letter signifying "for everyone"

Thanks, Geeker. Obvious, now you have pointed me in the right direction.
