I needed help on 22d due to reduced faculties after a difficult and long solve. A war of attrition on Tramp's part. And I guess Tramp won. Thank god Charlie Chaplin wasn't never our foe.

That was hard. Not sure of some of my answers like 5A, 14A.

Had to use a solver for LOI (29A).

Back to hard again I guess after the last few weeks!

Minno, 22D is 3 letter row (as in noise) containing 3 letter "plant".

Thanks Geeker. All finished now but can’t say I really enjoyed getting there. I’m definitely not on Tramp’s wavelength.

Had to leave off yesterday when I was about halfway, just finished this morning ,thanks for all the hints on forum. Found it tough and needed your help but enjoyed it.
Would like to see more of Tramp on prize crossword.
Enjoy what’s left of weekend.

I still can't parse 5A and 14A. For 14A I have the first 3 letters are the name of a football manager, that's about it.

For 5A I have ?C?I?S? and something that can happen to the moon or the sun (or if you are Bonnie Tyler, the heart).

5 and 14 are parsed early on in the thread, first couple of pages iirc.

Ah ok, "essentially" means the middle 2 letters in 5A.

Still can't see letters 4-6 meaning "a" though in 14A?

Okiedoke, I have seen that before I suppose.

Pretty sure my parsing of 3D in the Everyman is correct (see other thread).
