Got there in the end, though I don't understand the parsing of 21. Only clue I really enjoyed was 13,8, which was also FOI.

Hi everyone

Started at 2.30pm and didn't get a single across clue in first read through. Thank goodness for the easier downs. But then a PDM and 13,8 came. But I still haven't got the reference to 12 and 24.

I think I'm stuck now, so would appreciate some help with a couple.

For 12ac I have A?T?N??? ?? I have an idea for an onswer, but can't parse it.

A hint for 18ac may help unlock that quadrant. I have ?????R?T?S
I think I'll go off and do some chores and hope my brain re-sets itself.

It took me ages to get the obvious 11ac!!!!

12 and 24 are what you wouldn't do if it was 13,8
18 is quite an obscure word. think of a word for "has fun" (as we might do for the queen's platinum jubilee), then change an l to an r.

Thanks Chris

I managed to parse my word for 12ac after guessing at a word for 7d meaning deal. I can't parse all of it, but it will have to do.

Thanks for the hint about 18ac. I think I may have that now. I shall aim for 16 and 19d now I have some letters, which might help with 22 and 24ac.

Meanwhile, I don't understand the clue for 1d. I have still to sort out the top SW corner. Time for my glass of wine!

Hi Roof,

1d - Is a straight anagram - don't be misled by "Van Gogh", while he is an example of the answer, so are probably most of the people you know!

Enjoy your vino:-)

I'm sorry Brendan, I just can't see an eight letter anagram with the letters I've got. I just got 9ac. I have ???O?E?N. I haven't got 5ac or 5d. I know what the latter should be, but can't think of the word. Ahhhh, just got 1d
