I had no idea that Brummie was also Cyclops who sets for Private Eye:-)

Does 8 begin with the same letter as 11? [Hope this vague enough to avoid spoilers]

Thanks, got it now (red-faced, make it LOI). Another Cyclopean clue.
And I knew the UK part perfectly well!

Hi all.

Tender - Chambers - A small craft that attends a larger [eg an inflatable to get from yacht to shore].

A little harsh to deny recognition of the Shakespearean character theme, surely? At least thirteen on a quick run through [c. 40% of the clues] with enough proper names and unusual-enough other answers to make it unlikely to be a coincidence.

Yes, many of the answers are related to Shakespearean characters (at least half a dozen or so) .

all,

Making steady progress here, but stumped by 24a. Only word which seems to fit the crossers I have makes no sense from any possible definition and I definitely cannot parse it.

Crossers I have are from 24d, 18, 25 and 19d. 99% sure I have them right.

Any subtle guidance would be great.

24a: Two letter abbreviation for pub, followed by three letter synonym for drive, at the end. The first two letters are bit vague, I agree.

Thanks Matgi.

That parsing fits with my answer, but how is that word a record? I am assuming that's the definition?
