I’m not into horses but there was another one called 15a.

Phew. Finally finished. LOI was 26a as I was held up by 18d/20a. I've never heard of 20a so a few other wrong attempts held me up.

I've found the right horse, rainman. Nijinsky is far more famous, as it actually won major races!

13d anyone? Hint? I found it challenging today.

Letters: ?n?e?p?a?s

I have an idea but it doesn't make sense.

Thanks

Ianwil Nijinsky and 15a were both sired by Northern Dancer so were half brothers (if that's the correct description in the horse world?) 15a is famous for winning a Classic but being disqualified iirc

Ah, so it is. Never would have thought of 'neglected' as an anagram indicator. Thanks chrise

I found this one more difficult than usual, probably because 20a isn't a well known term in Canada (I had to look it up). I also had the wrong instrument as an anagram for 23a, in more of a figurative sense, which made 14d very difficult to get.

Are 1a and 24a supposed to be the rhyming pair?

Hi Lexo,

In my London accent there isn't a rhyming pair but I think the one's Geeker referred to might be 1a and 14d, although, as he says, it is rather forced and accent specific:-)

Yes, 1a and 14 are what I read as a weakish / forced rhyming pair. I'm not sure they really count, or were intended, as such.
