Un - French for a, Lit- French for bed.

25 A pawn is a piece in chess and to pop something is the same as to pawn something (well, it's very dated now!)

3 D. Roy and Al are the two names. and a Prince is Royal.

7 Spar, have an argument and spar and yard both mean masts, gaffs, booms (on ships).

12 Neat is an old word, seen quite often in crosswords, for cattle, cows etc, so Ox and Bow can mean oarsman, the rower nearest the bow.
