Was 6 D really 'stayed'? State would work better, an elephant - who never forgets - would never be in a state of amnesia, forgetfulness.

In 20 D was the 'no' definitely there? Agnomen is A, in clue, Gnome, Swiss financier (the gnomes of Zurich, I can't give you more than that right now, sorry) and the N is from the middle of money (money at heart).

My mistake.... there's no "no" in 20.
Also first word of last clue is "State", not "stayed"....bloody autocorrect on mobile phone.

6d. you need to read upwards in a down clue (elevation)… EG (say) + REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers)
