Excellent crossword today; like many I struggled at the start but things picked up. Missing parsing on a few: 1a, 18a, 22a if anyone can hint subtly…

1 is a ghostish subtractive anagram
18 large is l, victoria is in london
22 what do betty and scott have in common?

As there are lots of clever clues here I am doubtful about what I have for 19d. Even with the hint already given I've not been able to improve on an answer which for me is down in the category of "oh well, I suppose so". Any more hints please?
