Hi FemmeNoire,

It seems that it's a worldwide event, though the date is different in the Southern Hemisphere for... ahem... obvious reasons.

13d - Is a double definition and 2d is also the male of this species.

Thanks Geeker. It’s the first two words of the definition that I was not familiar with. Having lived and worked in the East Midlands, the luvvie term makes sense to me. Might be unfamiliar to many -unless I’m barking up the wrong tree

Yes, 18d was one of the unknown terms/words I had to back out from the wordplay. Hesitated for a moment, thinking "that couldn't really be...", and had to verify with Google.
It is quite thematic in more than one way! :)

Same here Geeker, 18d was my LOI - like you I was thinking "that can't be right" - but it is!

Yes 18d does sound rather risqué! I thought it was a well known phrase , but maybe that’s because I come from a 12a family, and it happens to be what my first Saturday job involved.

Nice one Geeker - I was slow on the uptake but I've just got your "is quite thematic in more than one way" - brilliant, Pauline would have been proud 😂

Hi FemmeNoire,

I'm with you on searching for 11a on Google - anyone who shares a laptop or who's doing this crossword at work should take extra special care 😉
