I believe so Chrise, the author has a museum dedicated to him in the heart of the EU, in a country that counts French among its languages.

I’m reminded there’s also a little bookshop dedicated to this in Covent Garden which I’ve walked past many times. I’ll be tempted to pop in next time, not that anything’s open at the moment.

Chrise@29 - yes, the author's nom-de-plume is the phonetic version of his real initials in French, reversed. Both the museum and the Covent Garden shop are worth a visit when such indulgences are allowed again

Enjoyable test today, but any hints on the parsing of 17A and 8A/26A please?

In the latter I can see the gong and the two containers, but somewhat foxed by "from a hundred" as there seems to be a letter 'a' too many?

I always enjoy reading all the posts on here - thank you all.

17 synonym for "supplement" as a verb, inside a slang word for "pawn" (so "in pawn")
8 "a hundred" gives 2nd and 3rd letters

@23
22a botanically is a berry but not usually considered to be one. Sometimes not even a fruit either!

Isn't the classic expression of the difference between knowledge and wisdom, 'knowledge is knowing that a 23A is a fruit, wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad'?
