Having made great leaps forward I'm stumped again by:
7*. 'Central region of Australia is wild in general'. With the letters I have it looks like an anagram (wild) of Australia minus the outer letters. Can I find a general that fits? Nope.
12/16. Jacob's wife....etc. I know he had 2 wives, neither of which seem to be very hip-hop. But then, neither am I.
Hints and shoves welcome.

Neither of them was very hip or hop, and nor is the artist referred to. But one of the wives can follow (backwards) a variant of hip hop.

Hi Granama,
On the Roman general, it's not clear there was a real-life such character but he definitely turns up 'Coriolanus' as a general.

Bunty
7 Met + with 6-letter metal ore and the e moving to the front
3 Go one more: doubling is 100% increase
8/12 Vivace is three-letter word usually evoked by people bemoaning its more recent appropriation, string is literal three-letter word (think neckwear) + s reversed
