Look for a 3 letter word meaning bar inside a synonym for suspect (verb). Defn is the answer to the previous clue

Thank you for that memory. It helped me to justify the famous family of luthiers. The biscuit was hard for me to remember, though it's rather soft I think.

Hello! I figured it was about time I signed up and contributed to this thread since I enjoy reading it and find it very valuable in helping me complete the prize each weekend, so thank you all for your efforts. Pleased I was able to finish it and parse it all without too much bother this weekend (just solving 9a and parsing 26a held me up a little, but all sorted now thanks to your hints!) so guessing it was on the easier end of the spectrum. Fun nonetheless!

Just got 12a. Not an item I thought of as a theme word, but found a list called [theme word]people.com and it was on there.

Hi FemmeNoire,

12a - 8 letter "biscuit" minus/"has left" 2 letters for "accountant" - definition is "a shade" (see 15a)

15a - 3 letter "river" (a specific one) + P(arking) + a "sea" (Again, a specific one) - definition is a "shade".

I'm with you on finding it a challenge - did make me pekish, though:-)

Hi everybody

Well I've been doing quite well for a Paul, but a few still to go mainly in the south west corner. Please can I have some hints for 20 ac and 23ac

I have ???S???Y for 20ac
and ???T???I?? for 23 ac and can't see how to get a bird and a french strawberry in this one.

I also cannot parse 1d. I have all the crossers, but can only fit in one word, which I cannot see how it fits the clue.

Hi Roof,

20a - 1 letter for "redhead" inside a 7 letter word for "bourbon" (the drink) - definition is "unshaven"

23a -4 letter "winger" (a bird) inside/"breaking" a 6 letter word for "Cantona's strawberry" (he's French) - definition is "hobnob" (not the biscuit)

1d - 4 letter word for "food" reversed/"served up" around a 4 letter "fly" - definition is "decline"
