Can someone help with the parsing of 14D. Is it as simple as a synonym for a boy in Sunday = s and the last word is a synonym for elite? Hope that’s not too much info to be a spoiler. If correct, not a familiar dressing in the U.S. Thanks

Hello, this is my first time posting on here. I usually manage to slog my way through the crossword, with lots of help from these chats. However today I am totally stumped with 6d and the second word in 16a. I can see a word that should fit in 16a, but it would mean I have 5d wrong. Any help with these would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hi and welcome Nickih
I suspect you may have "raiser" in 5d. It's a poor clue, but it isn't "raiser".
6d is all read from bottom to top. The definition is "wor;d of learning".
16a the hardest natural substance?

Thank you ChrisE. Yes I did have raiser and wondered if that was wrong. Do you have any hint to help with 5d? Thanks

It's poor - synonym for "hard night out", I think.
