Another enjoyable puzzle from Everyman with lots of wit and some very clever cluing.

In terms of difficulty, I'd say it sits pretty much in the middle - how's that for commitment:-)

After yesterday's themed Guardian Prize I've been looking to see if this has followed suit but, so far, I haven't noticed any - but that doesn't mean there isn't one!

COD - I'm going to pick out three excellent clues - 7d (I'm surprised this answer doesn't crop up more frequently in crosswords), 12a and 23a.

Thanks to Everyman for a very fun crossword.

Please feel free to leave a comment or ask for a hint if you get stuck.

Stay safe:-)

I found this one easy, compared to yesterday’s torture from Paul. Very much liked 7d.

Hi Mathi,

I think anything would have seemed easy compared to yesterday 🤪

Morning a,,
I found that a solid solve, not easy by any stretch. I liked 23 and 25a, and 12a has a nice &Lit quality. Looking for connections all I see is a rhyming pair of long down clues, a bit tenuous I know! When I saw X and Y, I was thinking it might be a pangram, but no, two letters are missing, oh well.

Hi Jono,

I really liked 12a but I always feel sad when I think of the way he was disowned by H.....

I zoomed through today, most enjoyable mind. I was just about to ask for help parsing 12a but I see it now, clever clue.

Still can’t parse 26a though. I have the answer - a surgical instrument - just can’t quite see why...

Area of skin peeled, removing outer layers – using this? (7)
