Thanks again, tatters - this is a strange one, because I've obeyed the instruction and I'm none the wiser for it (it certainly isn't what I was expecting to write under the grid). A trick question perhaps?

I hope someone will be able to give me a hint later on.

Chambers justifies the endgame (I think).
Anyway, I enjoyed the clues and thought it was fun... and a bit daft (but in an interesting way).

drxx - does the solver needs the lyrics of the piece referenced? if so it's another example - and there have been many - where a solver without access to the internet is at a severe disadvantage. when i wor a lad all you needed, apart from chambers, was odq and brewer. nowadays, thanks to mr google, almost anything goes, however arcane, and not all of us remember the words - after all, if you remember the 60s you weren't there.

I need some help with 16a, 19d and 20d.

Each clue has a misprint in the def.

16.Where some Irish people love their old leader, kind at heart (8)

19. Size of tiny currant seed plugged by company (American) (7)

20. Designation given to demote islands along with a tax haven (7)

Thanks.

As I see it the message tells us which of the two phrases is NOT the one required (the sixth word being the key). A relief to me, as I can't stand the primary subject matter!
