Tip for 32a please, my last.
Definition?
I need to place a V in the clue. Is that right?

Lumen, V is correct and it goes in the penultimate word - think rib. I too cannot parse 24A.

All of 'barrel' (not just the abbrev) must be added to the answer to get 'full round'.

Greengage, Answer is a synonym for the word with the corrected letter. When you add ‘barrel’, you get a term for a ‘full round’ - an aerial manoeuvre.

Getting really frustrated now. I have 14 pairs of clashing letters and the two phrases but drawing the lines is baffling me. Are they supposed to be drawn connecting successive letters in one of the phrases or do we have a free hand to artistically represent something?

They're in 4 distinct (not connected) groups, tatters.

...and both phrases follow the same order that spells out each phrase.
