Doh! I didn't think about the possibility of a down clue beginning in the 3rd cell of row 2. I feel a twit now.
Thanks kirky!

Finished, complete with the endgame but, as always there's a ??? How does Spy ti(g)ers climbing.......work? Every letter is checked so the answer is a given but how does the clue work? I'm not even clear which bit is the definition!

Granama1

Looks like it's (t)i(e)r(s) (climbing) +(t)h(e)y'(r)e (taking regular steps)

Ah...thanks Muraria. I think I was fixating on the last part being the definition and only found the proper one after a good dig around in Chambers.

Hi Bunty,

Yes, the bar under the G, this means that for the "biblical king.." answer to get from the G to the H it would have to cross the bar - doesn't it?

The def for the 'biblical king' clue is its last two words. The king is the answer's first two letters.
The third, fourth and fifth letters of the other clue are from 'with (the fifth) her man (third and fourth) in front'.

Thanks Son1ofrover1, but why does OU = "her man"?

For "biblical king..." is it "comprehending" = HAS around M(arks)?
