I've solved about half the clues but have pretty much ground to a halt, I think these two might get me going again...

Fancy that early childhood show entertains (4)

Poetic arrangements in rough draft as an alternative to manuscript (8, 2 words)

Thanks Sunray.

I really annoy myself sometimes - when I saw "entertains" I immediately thought 'hidden', then, as I had W as the first extra letter and Y as the third, I knew it had to be H, but the answer looked so unlike a real word I didn't bother checking it - I'd like to say "once bitten twice shy" but I'd just be fooling myself:-)

brendan, the clues are tough.

I am making slow progress. About 6 remain.

Not sure what these two are:

Become inert gas, patently leaving covering layer out (8)

East London woman, very occasionally with her man in front (5)

I also have extra words as 3,3,6, 3,2,3. I have a few letters for 6 but nothing fits.

With help from Forum users I've finally finished, with the question and the answer highlighted. There are still about half a dozen I haven't fully parsed, but I'll look at them again tomorrow with fresh eyes. An excellent puzzle with a neat end game:-)
