The first letter of 37d was the last I entered. Didn't know either definition! Very pleased to have finished a listener. Cheering in these challenging times...

For those like me who do not have a hard copy of the relevant reference book you can get to the appropriate page by googling the 4th, 5th and 7th extra words - together in that order. The Google Books entry.
The letters found there are a standard format as far as I can see which makes the last 3 extra words a bit redundant.

All very enjoyable apart from 43a which looks like being xi but I’ve no idea why it is!

Think I’ve answered myself as EL is there backwards with EVEN around it.

All completed but can’t parse 34d - Chambers decreed game played first (5). Chambers is an extra word. Decreed is the definition. Where does ‘game played first’ fit in?

Let’s try to avoid capitals, and also avoid explicit answers to questions that nobody but the person posting has asked!

Just realised I can’t parse 30d either. Shipping from order tops note, on way or another in Scotland. The last part is the definition, and ‘note’ is the last two letters, but can’t sort the rest.
