Thanks ginge - really appreciate it. As I had to make my request on page 7 presume it might be a 'toughie' ....

Hi midgers, 23a is (6) so you'll be left with a 5 letter answer, a variant of the entry !

I am really struggling with this one and I think I will have to throw the towel in. I have filled most of the bottom half of the grid, but the top half is a different matter. Despite previous hints here, I still cannot solve 14 across or 22 down. I also need 2, 12, 23, 26, 27, 29 and 33 across, plus 3, 6, 7, 11, 25 and 26 down. Any hints would be welcome

Finally finished this (found it really hard but earlier posts on here a big help). However still can't see the parsing for 23a, 26a and 27a. Pretty sure my answers are right as everything fits, but would be grateful if some kind person could enlighten me!

Thanks for putting me out of my misery Ginge. Been staring at it for hours but seems so obvious when you point it out, especially 26. I think I was trying to make it harder than it was!

Well I gave it a week but could not get over the line with this one. Only managed to complete about 3/4 of the grid. I don’t know if it was exceptionally hard or I have just been a bit off the ball this week.
This will be the first one I have missed submitting for over two years.
Looking forward to tomorrows paper....

Before we go again, i’ve done the grid, got the name, 9-letter word, the 2 6s, and can see the 3x3 group at the bottom. I think that leaves me 3 short. Any pointers? Thanks.
