I can't quite finish, can someone give me a helping hand please?

I have the grid complete save for unclued 20D which lacks the unchecked letters.

So I have the 6 morphed clues and the unclued solutions which account for the morphing.

I have 6D which, with 27D make two of a trio (the third being the partner to be noted below the grid?) who starred in a famous series.

Is that right?

But 20D eludes me... if the unchecked letters are H and T then it is a contemporary of the others, but one who was not involved with the series.

I'm also stumped why "one normal entry...wrongly placed...entry for 1D" - I took 27D to be the other of the partners but it doesn't 'shift' and doesn't work for 1D!

Am I completely missing or mistaking the them of this puzzle?

Hi kt

I enjoyed this one. The two of the four that account for the DIFFERENCES you no doubt have. There’s no famous series involved. The other two unclued entries are linked thematically. 20d starts with F.

The one with the partner is an across clue.

Hope that helps.

Many thanks in anticipation
