Welcome to our weekly competition to compose a cryptic clue, to be judged by your fellow contestants.

You may enter as many clues as you like and everyone is welcome. Feel free to explain your clue, if you think it will help, or to ask another setter to parse a clue.

Entrants should vote for their favourite clue. Please include the post number but please refrain from commenting on entries until voting has begun.

Clues should be posted by 11:00 am UK time on Friday, 31st May, when voting opens. Voting closes at 10:00 pm that evening.

The entry with the most votes wins and its composer sets next week's competition.

The setter has the deciding vote in the event of a tie and may change the rules if necessary.

The setter will declare the winner and award an online prize.

This week's answer to be clued is:

EGG TEMPERA (3,7)

Have fun and good luck!

Bomb scene a Pre-Raphaelite technique? (3,7)

1. Bomb = Egg [Chambers]
2. Scene = Temper [Chambers]
3. a = a
4. Apparently the use of Egg Tempera, (by Michelangelo et al) died out in the 16th century - oil paints supplanted it. But the pre-Raphaelites took it as a re-adopted medium. Thank you Wikipedia.

5. Blimey, that was hard work for a half-arsed clue!
