I have finished but am unsure about 6a) Can anyone parse it for me?

sorry for repeat - my computer didn't update and I thought it hadn't posted. Thanks j - I had been trying to do a separate substitution for each word because I thought that's what the rubric indicated - never heard of 7 down!

6a - substitute the beginning to rehearse for the second start of chorus in a word for young bird. Def is become more cheerful. Then alter the end thematically to get the tennis champion (who is more famous than I at first thought)

ending up with a word for 12 I can't find in a dictionary - perhaps meaning to put someone in another vehicle? Can that be right?

Prospero, for 12 try altering the order of the vowels and revisiting the parsing of the original entry.

Agree. I puzzled over 12 for a while before realising I'd written the original answer in the wrong way round!

I've completed all but 33 Across, which is doing my head in – am I right in thinking that none of the three crossers are substituted letters?

I’m also stuck on 33a (and 26d) and have probably spent as long on these two as all the others put together. I’d appreciate very gentle nudges (not answers please) so I can put it down. I never submit my solutions. Thanks

For 26d I substituted the first letter, seemed to the the only possibility for 26a, but ...
